Michael Jackson – Love him or hate him, he was a fantastic artist that redefined what we considered entertainment. I mean, he did THRILLER, one of the most important moments in the history of music and entertainment. I remember being a kid – mesmerized by the video and mimicking his moves.

When I saw this logo, I was amazed by the simplicity. The solution to the problem was so obvious, but yet it was a complex idea that was being communicated. Whoever designed this – found an elegant, simple, and effective way to communicate the idea. The ribbon has become a design cliché of sorts, I mean you see it everywhere – soccer mom vans, stickers, banners, etc – so to see it used in a new innovative way is quite nice. I am glad they avoided designing a logo that tried to say anything and everything about the King of Pop. Sometimes, less is more – and this is one of those instances. As a fan and designer, I find it to be an appropriate send off for one of the greatest entertainers of all time.
